Gran Canaria Beaches: Palm-fringed Taurito Beach

Taurito beach in south Gran Canaria Taurito beach in south Gran Canaria

A palm fringed beach with restaurants on the sand that is right in the south of Gran Canaria but rarely gets crowded? Nonsense you say!

Maybe it's because of the dark sand, or because free parking at Taurito is virtually impossible, or because everybody's using the waterslides at the Lido just behind the beach, but the resort's sand is often the emptiest between San Agustin and Mogan.

This is a shame as there aren't many beaches with snack bars right on the sand in Gran Canaria. Taurito is also an excellent snorkelling spot and is a popular place to learn Scuba diving. Loungers, parasols and jet-skis for rent on the beach.

Taurito beach is only 150 metres long but it's wide and the water is normally calm. It does get waves and strong currents during rare south swells.

Taurito beach is a popular place to learn to Scuba dive in Gran Canaria.
