Gran Canaria Surfing: El Lloret

The Lloret break in Las Palmas The Lloret break in Las Palmas

A great wave for proficient shortboarders but not for bodyboarders or beginners: Get El Lloret wrong and you end up on the rocks.

The El Lloret reef break runs right over stones and rocks. It is often flat during the summer but goes well when there is swell in from the Altantic, especially from the north northwest. The best time to surf El Lloret is first thing in the morning as it fills with locals on the days it's running well.

Access to El Lloret is via the pebbly El Rincon beach at the end of the promenade behind the Auditorium. It's tough to get in and out on big days and at high tide.
