South Gran Canaria woke up this morning to a dark cloudy sky (the north was sunny) and we will be getting bands of cloud, showers and even the odd rumble of thunder until Sunday.
This is due to a weather system that looked like it would only reach the western Canary Islands.
However, the cold northern air is colliding with warmer tropical stuff and has become stronger than forecast. It is now likely to send bands of cloud and showers over south and west Gran Canaria tomorrow and Saturday. On Sunday it will continue but more in the north.
The weather system is pretty fragmented so you can expect plenty of sunshine in between the bands of cloud and showers.
By Monday, the system will have faded away and we'll be back to sunny skies in south Gran Canaria and some cloud in the north.
