We've missed out too, and plan to make up for it; Casa Ari is going to be a regular lunch stop from now on thanks to its excellent prices and huge portions of classic Indonesian cuisine like gado gado and nasi goreng. More cafe than

More cafe than restaurant,  Casa Ari is decorated exactly how you'd expect a streetside cafe in Jakarta to look; A few knick-knacks and portraits of famous Indonesians, but nothing over the top. It only has half a dozen tables although there's also a terrace on the pavement. 

The service is quick and friendly and everything we tried was delicious (and contained hard-to-find ingredients like karrif lime leaves). Dishes are served with no chilli, but there is plenty of sambal hot sauce if you prefer things with a kick.

Two dishes and a plate of rice were enough for four people. Casa Ari also does takeaway food at menu prices plus one euro per Tupperware container.

Alex Says: Casa Ari is where Indonesian and Filipino sailors come to eat in Las Palmas while the cruise ships are docked. The Indonesian embassy staff are also regulars.
